Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Tabiya is a chess opening trainer for iPhone, iPad and Android, made by Martin Kiperszmid. In short: it has no account, no ads and no analytics, and what you do in it stays on your device.

What stays on your device

Tabiya doesn't send any of this to us. We don't run a server for the app, so there is nowhere for it to go.

If your phone's own backup is on (iCloud, or your Google account on Android), the system may include Tabiya's data in that backup, under your account. We can't see it.

When Tabiya goes online

Only to talk to Lichess, and only when you use one of these features:

Lichess handles these requests under its own privacy policy: lichess.org/privacy.

Everything else works offline, including the chess engine, Stockfish, which runs on your device.

Files you open

When you import a PGN file, Tabiya reads it on your device and keeps its moves. The file isn't uploaded anywhere.

Notifications

The daily reminder is scheduled on your device and needs your permission to show notifications. On Android 14 and later, Tabiya may also ask you to allow Alarms & reminders, so the reminder comes at the exact time. Neither permission sends anything anywhere.

What we don't do

No account. No ads. No analytics or crash reporting. No tracking across apps or websites. We don't sell or share your data, because we don't have it.

Children

Tabiya isn't directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and everything it stored on your device goes with it. Inside the app you can also reset an opening's progress or remove an opening. To stop a Lichess token from working, delete it on lichess.org, under Preferences › API access tokens.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date.
